Seguin Area Colleges, Universities and Workforce Training Centers
There are numerous opportunities to advance your education in and around Seguin, Texas. As part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), we have local colleges and quick access to all the universities in San Antonio. These include graduate schools, community colleges, and medical schools: Alamo Colleges District (includes, Northeast Lakeview College, Palo Alto College, St Philip's College, San Antonio College and Northwest Vista College), The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), the University of Texas Health Science Center, Texas A&M University at San Antonio, Trinity University, University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), St. Mary's University, Our Lady of the Lake University and so much more.
Those wishing to earn college credits in their own backyard can easily remain within the Seguin area and attend Texas State Technical College, Northeast Lakeview College, Texas Lutheran University (TLU), or Texas State University. These institutions are all within a 30-40 minute drive from Downtown Seguin.
Texas FAME - Lone Star Chapter
The Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education Lone Star Chapter (TX FAME Lone Star) mission is to drive workforce development initiatives across a 7-county region (Guadalupe, Comal, Wilson, Hays, Caldwell, Gonzales, and Bexar). TX FAME Lone Star's primary focus is to develop and grow a skilled pipeline of workers by engaging the current and future workforce in partnership with industry and the community.
With the TX FAME Lone Star Chapter, students can dive into a challenging advanced manufacturing career while receiving the education needed to build their resumes and make them highly marketable to manufacturers nationwide.
Once accepted into the TX FAME Lone Star Chapter, students will begin work on a combination education/training program with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to earn an associate degree as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT). During the week, students will attend classes at TSTC New Braunfels and work for a local employer – all while being paid a competitive wage.
After five semesters students will have earned an associate degree in applied science in the Advanced Manufacturing Technician Track, 60 college credit hours, and two years of work experience. At that point, students will be ready to enter the workforce full-time with all the skills needed to succeed - and with the potential of no school debt.
Texas State Technical College
Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is a two-year institution of higher education offering courses of study in technical vocational education for which there is demand within the State of Texas. House Bill 4997 was successfully passed during the 88th Texas Legislative Session in 2023, allowing TSTC to operate by right in Comal and Guadalupe counties. Service area jurisdiction rules prevent TSTC from providing its programming without the established district community college first declining to serve as the educational provider. With the passage of HB 4997, TSTC now has the flexibility to bring in new programs without going through the process of offering a right of first refusal each time.
TSTC currently serves the businesses and residents of Seguin and the surrounding area out of its location at the Central Texas Technology Center in New Braunfels, just 15 minutes from downtown Seguin. Texas State Technical College’s New Braunfels location will offer two new technical programs starting in August 2024. Certificates of completion will be available there in Industrial Systems Mechanic – Electrical and in Structural Welding. The new technical programs come after the August 2023 start of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Systems – Advanced Manufacturing Technology program. This degree is provided through a partnership with TSTC and the Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) Lone Star Chapter.
Northeast Lakeview College
Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) is one of the five Alamo Colleges. NLC currently serves the businesses and residents of Seguin and the surrounding area out of its location at the Central Texas Technology Center in New Braunfels, just 15 minutes from downtown Seguin. The NLC campus in New Braunfels offers:

- Information Technology (through Adult Education)
Texas Lutheran University (TLU)
Texas Lutheran University (TLU) is a private, coeducational university located in Seguin, Texas, affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Founded in 1891, TLU emphasizes a liberal arts education and offers a range of undergraduate programs that focus on developing critical thinking and communication skills in a nurturing academic environment. The university has a total enrollment of approximately 1,369 students, with 1,329 undergraduates and 40 graduate students.
TLU is particularly noted for its strong programs in the sciences, business, and education. Ingram School of Engineering
Texas State University Ingram School of Engineering provides a pipeline of talent for manufacturers and other industrial business enterprises within the Seguin area.The Ingram School of Engineering (ISoE) currently offers five Bachelor of Science degrees and a Master of Science, Major in Engineering degree with four separate concentration areas.
