Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program

The SEDC’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program is a strategic economic development initiative that aims to support existing businesses by identifying their needs and challenges through direct visits and data analysis. By offering tailored solutions, resources, and networking opportunities, the program helps businesses grow, improve their operations, and foster a thriving business environment within Seguin. The SEDC BRE program focuses on retaining and strengthening local businesses to stimulate job growth and ensure economic stability.

Company Visits

Part of our Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program, Company Visits are crucial to developing long-term relationships between the City and existing Seguin businesses. Held with a company’s CEO, plant manager, general manager, site leader and/or Human Resources manager, company visits help SEDC staff gain a better understanding of the inner workings and challenges of our local industries. Through visits, staff develop a clear understanding of the company’s products as well as markets in which it operates, all the while listening to specific concerns related to their operations. These visits also give staff the opportunity to identify resources, share information on City and SEDC initiatives, and offer resolutions to issues impacting the Seguin business community.

Company Visit Requirements

We strive to help all existing businesses in Seguin grow and expand.  As a Type A Economic Development Organization, governed by Chapters 501, 502 and 504 of the Texas Local Government Code, permissible SEDC activities and expenditures are typically dedicated to the creation or retention of Primary Jobs. Per Chapter 501 of the Texas Local Government Code, businesses that provide Primary Jobs are included only within certain sectors of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).  SEDC BRE visits are typically limited to primary job businesses. If you are not considered a primary job business, please don’t hesitate to contact our office. We will always try to answer any questions you may have, and work to provide assistance and guidance for your business.

CEO and HR Roundtables

The Seguin Economic Development Corporation hosts quarterly roundtables throughout the year for both Seguin Manufacturing Executives and Seguin Human Resources managers. These roundtables bring Seguin manufacturing companies together to identify challenges and allow companies to share best practices with one another. By fostering collaboration between these key industry players, the roundtables aim to strengthen Seguin's manufacturing sector as a whole. Topics discussed at these roundtables can range from workforce development and talent acquisition strategies to operational efficiencies and emerging technologies.  This collaborative environment fosters innovation and problem-solving, ultimately benefiting both the companies and the Seguin community.
