Electric Utilities

City of Seguin Electric

The City of Seguin Electric Department is responsible for maintaining the City's municipally owned and operated power distribution systems and three substations. The city, which owns its own electricity distribution system, purchases wholesale power from CPS Energy in San Antonio.

In addition to maintaining the electricity distribution system, the Department is also responsible for maintaining security and street lighting, responding to electrical outages, customer requests and resolutions. The Department also provides the construction needed to extend electrical service to new customers and for all Capital Improvement Projects.

GVEC Electric

As one of the largest and most progressive distribution cooperatives in Texas, the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative (GVEC) specializes in delivering products and services that fulfill the needs of thousands of people and businesses relying on them every day. They serve over 85,000 consumers (between member cooperative and public subsidiaries) throughout South Central Texas covering the Guadalupe Valley through:

  • Five modern customer service centers
  • Two state of the art Operations Centers
  • Fleet of mobile line crews as well as installation and service technicians
  • Focused Commercial and Industrial Account Representatives

Reliability is serious business. That is why they measure their performance by a set of strict benchmarks. Our current reliability rating is 99.9995%.

This high standard is met through consistent monitoring and maintenance of their electric system. Annual maintenance includes inspecting and changing out thousands of poles, upgrading wire and equipment, establishing new lines, and investing in transmission lines when necessary. With distribution as their primary service, GVEC operations are robust enough to also build and maintain their own transmission lines; a quality of which only a handful of cooperatives can claim. GVEC is committed to providing their commercial and industrial members with competitive and cost-effective electricity rates. They offer multiple classifications and rate schedules to fit specific business types. Before establishing your service, we will meet with you and select a rate class based on your overall monthly kilowatt demand as well as discuss any further details regarding your needs.
