(Seguin) — The Seguin Economic Development Corporation is doing its part to help put a paycheck in people’s hands.

In effort to meet peoples’ needs as well as maintain the strength of the local business community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the SEDC has been working steadily to maintain updated information on its Job Board found on its website.

Josh Schneuker, the executive director for the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, says the information being updated is to help those who have found themselves recently unemployed.

“If you go to seguinedc.com and you hover over the business tab, you will see an employment opportunity section. You click on that, it will take you to the ones that we have listed on our website. There are a number of companies right now that are looking for additional workforce. Some of those include Niagara Bottling and Tyson Foods. We all know that Walmart and HEB and some of our essential retailer stores that remain open right now are also looking for additional help,” said Schneuker.

Schneuker says the available jobs encompass a variety of openings throughout the city. He says it’s times like these that make this type of job search tool that much more important.

“We hope that this tool can provide our residents with just some of the opportunities that are out there and to give some opportunities at a time when they might have unfortunately lost their job due to everything kind of going on but we are trying to keep tabs on all of the available jobs out there and keep our website as up to date as we can,” said Schneuker.

Schneuker says the vacancies listed today encompass all available positions. He says these are definitely trying times for many people especially those who have always had a consistent job and are now facing a bit of uncertainty.

“It’s going to be a mixture. Some of them are temporary. Some are going to be part-time. Some are going to be full-time opportunities but it is just a matter of checking out each specific job posting but it could be at a time that somebody just might need a temporary position to help them get by until things start to get back to normal in someway. We are hoping the information that we have online can definitely help provide some assistance to our community at this time,” said Schneuker.

To help ensure the most updated job postings, the SEDC is also asking that the Seguin business community submit employment opportunities to its office. Available jobs can be submitted to www.seguinedc.com/business/submit-an-employment-opportunity. They may also be submitted by contacting the SEDC office at 830-401-2476.
