(Seguin) – The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court is expected to propose the tax rate for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

The court will consider the action during today’s regular meeting. The 2020 tax rate is being proposed at $.3854 per $100 of property valuation. The rate reportedly does not exceed the “no new revenue rate” or the “Voter Approval rate.” Factored into the total combined rate is $.3184 for maintenance and operations; $.0500 for its lateral road rate and $.0170 for debt service.

If the proposed tax rate is approved, then the court today will also look at setting its meeting to officially adopt the tax rate on Sept. 15.

The commissioners court this morning will also look at approving the filing of the proposed FY 2021 budget with the county clerk. Once filed, it will become available for public inspection.

Prior to today’s regular meeting, the court will also meet for a special workshop. Commissioners are set to discuss the county’s capital projects, the funding costs plus all other sources of revenue needed to fund those projects.

The workshop gets underway at 9 a.m. today. It will be followed by the regular meeting at 10 a.m. at the Guadalupe County Courthouse. The public can join the meeting via video or telephone. That information is available by clicking “postings/agendas” under the commissioner’s court tab found on the county’s website at www.co.guadalupe.tx.us.
