Downtown, Small Business

(Seguin) — On the third Thursday of every month, more than a dozen downtown merchants stay open late to welcome shoppers who might not be able to make it to their stores during normal business hours. Often the stores will offer specials and discounts that you cannot get any other time of the month.

Third Thursdays is hosted in partnership between the Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin, the Seguin Main Street Program and the downtown merchants. This November will mark three years of the Third Thursday promotion and the downtown merchants are glad to announce a new addition to the event.

For every purchase made at participating stores from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Third Thursdays, you will be entered into a drawing to win two $25 gift cards – one to use now and one to use at a later date. The more you shop, the better your chances of winning.
After you make a purchase, you will fill out a small slip with your contact information. At the end of the night, the slips will be collected from all the stores and one slip will be drawn. The chosen slip will also include the store where it came from and that will be the business that provides the gift certificates to the shopper. For example, if a slip from Southern Good is drawn, the person on that slip will receive two gift cards to Southern Good.

“We are excited to add the gift card drawing to our Third Thursday events and we hope that it encourages shoppers to explore all the stores in downtown,” said Dana Hall, President of the Downtown Business Alliance of Seguin and owner of You’re So Crafty, “We have a lot of wonderful stores in downtown and they all have their own style.”

In addition to the gift card contest, each Third Thursday features a different theme. November’s theme is Shop Small to celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season and Small Business Saturday. Do mark your calendar and plan on coming downtown every Third Thursday to win big by supporting our small businesses.
