Seguin, TX – On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, local high school juniors and seniors will trade in their textbooks and classroom lectures to shadow local business professionals in a wide array of occupations, while experiencing careers at different Seguin businesses during the fourth annual Seguin Job Shadow Day in Seguin, TX.

The Seguin Job Shadow Day is a collaborative effort between the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, Seguin ISD, Navarro ISD and Marion ISD.

Participating businesses include: City of Seguin, Goetz Funeral Home, Golden Locks Salon, Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center, Marion ISD, Oil Tea Company, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, Seguin Fire Department, Seguin Gazette, Seguin ISD, Seguin Police Department, Tackett Chiropractic, Tier One Dental, United Alloy, and Vitesco Technologies.

The day provides high school students with an opportunity to go to work with the pros, and explore a wide range of jobs, learn about various job skills, ask questions, pick up information and learn first-hand the responsibilities and rewards of employment in a variety of careers.

“Job shadowing is a career exploration activity that offers students a chance to spend time with a professional currently working in their career field of interest,” said Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation.

Chester Jenke, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce President said, “Students will be able to experience first-hand what it's actually like working in specific jobs in our community, and hopefully will consider such an occupation in the future.”

The Seguin Job Shadow Day was planned in conjunction with Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE, as well as the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. CTE directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers that cover many different fields, including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, hospitality, management and many more.
