(Seguin) — Everything looks to be on schedule for the construction of the new Seguin Crossing shopping center.
Crews can be seen working daily at the location just east of the Starbucks store near IH-10 and State Highway 123.
Josh Schneuker, the executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) says as soon as the announcement was made, developers did not hesitate in getting started.
“They are hoping to start going vertical with some of the buildings here before the end of the month. That’s kind of their next big target in terms of the construction schedule but the hope and the goal is to have these stores open in time for the holiday season. So, really working hard with them to try to get that accomplished so they can be open just in time for Black Friday,” said Schneuker.
News of the shopping center was shared last year in September.
The new development will include several stores including a new Academy Sports & Outdoors, Hobby Lobby, James Avery and Five Below.
Schneuker says news of this new shopping center in the 1300 block of IH 10 E has definitely sparked the interest of other developers and looks forward to even more announcements in 2025.
“The great thing about this retail development is right now, it’s trending to be 100 percent pre-leased before everything opens. But it’s really acting like a catalyst. We are working with other retailers and developers on other projects and it’s really the name recognition behind some of the tenants that are coming out as part of this Seguin Crossing
Development. They are really starting to generate interest. So, I think this is just kind of the tip of the iceberg and we are going to see a lot more retail coming in as a result of not only our growing population but the national retailers that are deciding to invest right here in Seguin,” said Schneuker.
Several other retail establishments are also in the coming to other parts of Seguin, including Spec’s Liquors, Take 5 Oil Change, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Chick-fil-A and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
