SEGUIN, Texas – The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Brittney Watson to Workforce Development Manager. Watson previously served as the organization's Marketing and Events Manager and has been a valued member of the SEDC team for the past six years.
Since joining the organization in 2019, Watson has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Marketing and Administrative Assistant, Marketing Specialist and Office Manager, and most recently Marketing and Events Manager. Throughout her tenure, she has played an integral role in advancing the organization's marketing efforts, coordinating community and business events, and supporting economic development initiatives that have strengthened relationships with local businesses, educators, workforce partners, and community stakeholders.
In her new role as Workforce Development Manager, Watson will lead the SEDC's workforce development initiatives by strengthening partnerships between local employers, educational institutions, workforce organizations, and community leaders. She will oversee programs designed to develop and retain a skilled workforce, expand career awareness opportunities for students, and support the talent needs of existing and prospective employers throughout the Seguin area.
Watson has been instrumental in planning and coordinating several of the organization's signature workforce initiatives, including Manufacturing Day, Seguin Industry Signing Day, and other industry-focused events that connect students with local career opportunities. Her experience working directly with employers, educators, and regional workforce partners provides a strong foundation for expanding these programs and continuing to build a robust workforce pipeline for the community.
Watson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Advertising, graduating summa cum laude from Texas State University. She is also completing coursework through the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute (OU EDI), where she has completed studies in workforce development, business retention and expansion, real estate and reuse, credit analysis, ethics, trends, and politics, with completion expected in August 2026.
"Brittney has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Seguin community and to the mission of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation," said Executive Director Alora Wachholz. "Her ability to build strong relationships, coordinate impactful programs, and bring people together has been evident throughout her career with our organization. As Workforce Development Manager, Brittney's passion for serving our businesses, schools, and workforce partners will help strengthen our talent pipeline and ensure Seguin remains well-positioned for continued economic growth. We are excited to see her thrive in this new leadership role."
As Workforce Development Manager, Watson will continue working closely with local industry, school districts, higher education institutions, workforce organizations, and community partners to support workforce readiness, promote career pathways, and ensure employers have access to the skilled talent needed to support Seguin's continued growth and success.
