GERONIMO — The sisters of Seguin Coffee Company are now roasting coffee beans and spreading their passion for java for the folks up State Highway 123.

Kristen Green and Lacey Dugi celebrated the grand opening of Seguin Coffee Company’s second location, 6532 N. State Highway 123, on Monday in Geronimo nearly one year since the opening of their downtown Seguin location.

“We really just have a lot of customers asking us to move outward because they travel and commute,” Green said. “We found this location and it just seemed like the perfect fit. It’s beside the high school and we wanted that, too. It was also on (State Highway) 123, which is perfect.”

The new location sits in a bright yellow painted shipping container building, which allows for a drive-thru and walk up service similar to their original location.

“We’re still putting things together, but we’re just really anxious so we thought we’d go ahead and open,” Green said. “We don’t have our signage and a few little things.”

From the classic Americanos, espresso shots and uniquely flavored lemonades — the Geronimo location will feature the same menu as Seguin’s including seasonal drinks.

About two years ago, the sister duo from Stockdale embarked on the entrepreneur path to start their coffee business together when the two both moved to Seguin.

While waiting for the construction of their 410 N. Austin St. spot, the two set up shop at The Warehouse as a way to test the waters.

“We’ve learned so much. I feel like we’ve hit so many obstacles, but we’ve learned from it and what not to do going forward. It’s been really good,” Green said.

Since starting their coffee journey, Green said the Seguin community has shown nothing but support. “Our community supports us so much and all the work we’ve done. It’s so weird to think that so many people follow us and support our tiny dream,” she said. “It seems so small and then you see it’s much bigger. Thank you to our community and the town of Seguin for supporting us and showing us love.”

As mothers and businesswomen, Green said they encourage other women who want to become entrepreneurs to just go for it.

“It’s so scary when you think about it. You have so many risks — you have kids to take care of and a house to take care of, but at the end, your kids are going to look at you and think ‘wow my mom did all this.’ Then they’re going to go out and do that too,” she said.

The Geronimo location is open 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We’re still feeling out the weekends, but we encourage people to stop by,” Green said. “I feel like we give out a really good attitude toward your day and when you start your day off with friendly service and someone that is being nice to you it just makes the day so much better.
