In response to increased demand for its lypholization and manufacturing services, Quality BioResources, a Seguin-based company, is announcing a series of initiatives designed to provide the additional capacity required for its anticipated business growth over the longer term. This expansion includes the addition of 6000 square feet of air-conditioned warehousing space, 6000 square feet of ambient storage and the installation of a new Hull 220 lypholizer. A lyophilizer, also known as a freeze dryer, executes a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials, to extend shelf life or make the material more convenient for transport. Lyophilizers work by freezing the material, then reducing the pressure and adding heat to allow the frozen water in the material to sublimate.

“In November, we will be installing a new Hull 220 lyophilizer in Building 2. This effort is led by William Dwyer, our Lyophilization Engineer, and will take several months of work to complete. This unit will be our third Hull 220. We have 8 freeze dryers total and lyophilize medical diagnostics, medical devices and materials that are components in everything cosmetics to nutraceuticals.” said, Claudia Briell, President and CEO of Quality BioResources.

In addition to the added facility space and new equipment, Quality Bio’s expansion is also expected to add up to 8 new technical jobs. The expansion is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2019.

“Concurrent with the installation of the new lyophilizer, we are also converting an existing 10,000 square foot open air warehouse to an enclosed ISO Class 8 Clean Room production area” said Briell.

“We are excited that Quality BioResources is expanding and investing in Seguin, Texas. The success of the company has been driven by their leadership and their employees. Manufacturers across all different industry sectors continue to thrive in Seguin, and Quality BioResources is a prime example of this. The future is definitely bright for Quality BioResources” said Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation.

With over 20 years of experience in lyophilization of sensitive enzymes, diagnostic products, pharmaceutical intermediates and cosmetic ingredients, it is no surprise that Quality BioResources is the largest, most scalable lyophilization capacity in the Central United states and steadily growing.
