The Alamo Academies is a national award winning, innovative, STEM-based instructional model operated by the Alamo Area Academies Inc., a non-profit organization, in partnership with the Alamo Colleges, area high schools, area industry and the cities of San Antonio, New Braunfels and Seguin. The Alamo Academies provides Seguin area youth with tuition-free career pathways into critical demand technical STEM occupations. The program utilizes contextualized industry-driven curricula resulting in 94% of graduates entering higher education or high-wage careers in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Healthcare. Seguin area high school students are able to participate in the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Academy, as well as the Information Technology and Security Academy.

Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Academy

Manufacturers in Seguin and the San Antonio Metro Area are continually growing and in search of future employees that are familiar with and passionate about manufacturing. The manufacturing industry is one of the largest sectors of the San Antonio economy and contributed $40.5 billion to it in 2016.

At the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Academy, you will acquire the entry-level skills necessary for success in the Advanced Manufacturing profession. At the conclusion of the program, you’ll be able to identify machine operations, machine tools, and inspection procedures.

Graduates from the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Academy who decide to enter the workforce can expect a starting salary of $20 to $27 an hour.

Employers in the Manufacturing Industry:

The Alamo Academies program will provide you with skilled and motivated graduates who have taken courses such as technical calculations, precision tools and management, basic machine shop, robotics, and introduction to computer-aided manufacturing. Graduates have also earned a 10-hour OSHA card, Manufacturing Skill Standards Council Certified Production Technician Safety and Quality Certification, Certificate of Completion in Manufacturing Skills Trade Helper, and Certificate of Completion in Tool Operator/Maintenance Assistant.


Information Technology & Security Academy

Cybersecurity is more necessary today than ever before. It can prevent companies from cyber attacks that cost them time, money, and their reputation. If you’re interested in advancing your knowledge in cybersecurity, consider the Information Technology and Security Academy.

The Technology and Security Academy focuses on computer engineering, computer science, problem-solving, and communication skills. You’ll earn Testout Certification in PC Pro, Network Pro, Linux Pro, and Security Pro and can continue training to receive other industry certifications or use your college credits toward further education at the college level.

You may land a position as a computer support specialist and help with log-in difficulties, operating system and software malfunctions, network technologies, and even hardware issues.

The Alamo Academies program can provide you with entry-level IT professionals who are well-versed in IT security, fundamentals of networking technologies, intro to PC operating systems, LINUX installation, and configuration, and personal computer help desk support. They will hold certifications such as Testout Certification PC Pro, Network Pro, Linux Pro, and Security Pro. Graduates have also earned Level 1 Certificate of Completion, Computer Desktop Support Technician and Level 1 Certificate of Completion, Information Technology & Security Academy.
