(Seguin) — The city of Seguin is again making progress on some of its road projects.

Seguin Public Information Officer Jennifer Sourdellia says a ribbon cutting ceremony was held this week to mark the completion of the Strempel Road re-construction project. The 18-month project was designed by TRC and completed by Cox Commercial Construction in July 2019.

“Strempel Road is a major connector between State Highway 123 and Business 123. With our Utilities Center and Rave Gears nearby, Strempel Road sees a large amount of heavy truck usage,” said Sourdellia. “Traffic utilizing the roadway is only expected to increase due to future development of land on the north side of the roadway. The new concrete road will be able to withstand the increased volume of vehicle traffic and heavy truck traffic.”

The $2.4 million project from State Highway 123 to Business 123 included:

• Complete re-construction of the roadway and concrete pavement

• Street improvements, including a central, continuous turn lane (curbs, gutters and inlets) and a 5’ concrete sidewalk along the south side of the roadway;

• Increased capacity of existing water main between State Highway 123 and Business 123;

• Drainage, water and utility improvements

The Seguin City Council held the ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday along the new roadway.
