(Seguin) — To get the community in the holiday spirit, there will be a full weekend of continued festivities dedicated to spreading holiday cheer in Seguin. The three-day festivities started Thursday with the Holiday Stroll Parade hosted by the Seguin Parks and Recreation Department.

On Friday, December 3, stroll through the historic downtown district with mugs in hand to sample homemade hot cocoas from over 30 participating merchants. Christy Hopper, Main Street assistant stated,
“We are excited to have a good group of Chocolatier participants for the Sip n’ Stroll evening this year. It is an event that continues to be a hit each year in our community.”

Downtown merchants will stay open late from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. so you can stroll and shop local. In addition to the cocoa and shopping, there will be performances, pictures with Santa, and a live nativity.
This year’s mug features a painting of the First Church by Kaye Koehler. You can purchase your Sip n’ Stroll mug for $15 at participating downtown merchants or from the bandstand the night of the event unless sold out. Arrive early to get one before they are all gone!

The fun continues Saturday morning with Jingle Bell 5K starting at Central Park and continuing along the Walnut Springs Trail. To sign up for the run visit https://bit.ly/HolidayStrollJingleBellRun. Cost is $30 in advance, or $35 day of registration. Following the race, come to the North Pole Stroll at 10 a.m. also held in Central Park.

Holiday activities for the day will include pictures with Santa, letters to Santa, ornament decorating, and cookie decorating. Local school choirs will perform holiday classics in the bandstand. There will also be a variety of food vendors available.

“The atmosphere set during the holiday events is perfect for the family.”, said Kyle Kramm, Main Street and CVB director. “We hope that everyone enjoys celebrating these traditions in Seguin.”

The Holiday Stroll would not be possible without the sponsors of this year’s event. A huge thanks to the City of Seguin, CMC Steel Texas, First United Bank, VA Electrical Contractors LLC, The Aumont Apartments & Offices, 1916 Bar & Bistro, Lonestar Home Solutions, the Moreno Family, and the Schoenvogel Family.
