(Seguin) – One of Seguin’s longest running breakfast traditions returns this weekendwith the annual Seguin Kiwanis Club Flapjack Jamboree. The pancake and sausage platter will be served bright and early this Saturday in the First United Methodist Church parking lot. The location is new for the organization which will be serving up the meal from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Club member Ed Engelhardt says this year marks the 64th anniversary for the annual tradition.

“We do the meal ourselves. No outside help is needed. We serve pancakes and sausage and this year; it’s going to be a drive thru. We have served it for a long time. We have pretty well figured out how to do it by now. There’s orange juice with it and on the side, we’ll have members of the Navarro Jazz Band who will furnish some music for us to hear. So that’s part of the event,” said Engelhardt.

Engelhardt says tickets can be purchased early from any club member or they can simply be purchased at the event. He says plates are $10 each with all proceeds going back into the community.

“The money that we derive from the event is used for youth events and we use it for scholarships and sponsorships and anything to do with youth. We’ve sponsored Little League teams and purchased items from the Guadalupe County Youth Livestock and Homemakers Show and contributed to the children’s advocacy center and various situations having to do with youth,” said Engelhardt.

Again, the Flapjack Jamboree will be hosted in the First United Methodist Church parking lot. The church is located at 710 N. Austin St.
