Guadalupe County salutes manufacturing community

(Seguin) – No manufacturer is going unnoticed this month in Guadalupe County. October marks National Manufacturing Month. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved a proclamation recognizing the contributions of the local manufacturing community.

Speaking on behalf of the manufacturing community in the city of Seguin and all of Guadalupe County was Seguin Economic Development Director Josh Schneuker.

Schneuker says these companies continue to serve as the backbone of the local economy and despite challenges, offer up good wages and great opportunities for their employees.

“Guadalupe County is really one of the strongest manufacturing clusters not only in this region of Texas but really throughout the whole state of Texas. There’s a good chunk of employment here in Seguin that manufacturers make up and there’s a good chunk of employment that they make up county wide as well. Today, we are fortunate to be joined by some of our manufacturers that really help strengthen our economy. I believe we have CMC Bill VanderWaal here today — Jason Dinscore, (CMC and chairman of the Texas FAME Lone Star Chapter). We have Ian Burden from Alamo Group. We have Caterpillar. We have Dan and Mary and Keith from Alamo Group as well and then also our EDCs that really work to help strengthen that talent pipeline working hand in hand with our employers specifically focusing on the manufacturers that create the primary jobs here today. We’ve got Kelsee Lee from Cibolo here and then Holly Covington Malish from Schertz as well –representing across the board here in Guadalupe County,” said Schneuker.

Schneuker says it’s because of these manufacturers who call Guadalupe County home that this region remains strong and competitive.

“I just want to thank all of the manufacturers for really their contributions. That’s one thing that we truly value is those relationships and helping to ensure that we can create an environment and ecosystem that keeps them here in town and also providing those career opportunities for the next generation of workers in the manufacturing industry and last but not least,  thanking you all as well for the continued support and all the efforts that you put in to help at the county level and working with our companies here to ensure that Guadalupe County remains one of the top destinations to continue to do business and if you are looking to relocate or expand your business, it remains one of the top destinations in my eyes in the state as well so I really want to thank you all and thank everybody for being here today,” said Schneuker.

Sharing in the celebration was Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher. Kutscher says industry is the foundation of this community and its continued growth.

“We want to say thank you to the manufacturers that are here and also those in in the community who couldn’t make it today. We really do have a special environment here in Guadalupe County that I know that we all see and recognize. I don’t know if everybody pays that close attention to it. It’s not just an exciting time because you are a large manufacturer – there’s a lot of taxable value, jobs and all of those things. We are proud to be in a community where we get to build products that people need and use. We are a hardworking community, very supportive. I know this entire court; the councils are extremely supportive of what you do. We get to celebrate some long tenured businesses here in Guadalupe County this week which is an exciting thing. I just can’t say thank you enough,” said Kutscher. “If you ever need anything from Guadalupe County, we are here for you big or small, it doesn’t matter when — just call us and we will do whatever we can.”

EDC officials say manufacturers continue to help boost job growth in Guadalupe County. They say they have not only provided higher wages for local families, but they have created more economic opportunities for other businesses in the community as well.
