City of Seguin and the Seguin Economic Development Corporation Launch Free Shop Local App that Offers 5% Cash Back Rewards

The City of Seguin and the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) are excited to announce the launch of a new shop local app, Open Rewards. Open rewards is a cash back rewards program designed to encourage community support for local businesses. Through the app, users can enjoy 5% in cash rewards on purchases made at participating businesses across Seguin.

“The City of Seguin and the SEDC are committed to fostering the growth and success of our business community, both new and established,” said Mayor Donna Dodgen. “Open Rewards underscores the importance of shopping local, and I encourage all our residents to download the app, enjoy the benefits, and actively support the businesses that make Seguin unique.”

Participation in Open Rewards is entirely free for businesses and consumers. Seguin businesses in the restaurant and retail sectors are automatically enrolled in the program, with no action required to give or redeem rewards to shoppers—it’s all managed seamlessly through the app.

The app is available for free to download on the App Store or Google Play. The program has 129 participating restaurant and retail businesses, all of which will earn users 5% cash back rewards on their purchases.

Funded by the SEDC, the program offers additional benefits to participating businesses, including access to free promotional materials like flyers, tent cards, and social media graphics. Businesses can request these materials by emailing economicdevelopment@seguintexas.gov.

The way it works is simple:
•    You go to a local business in the program and make a purchase
•    You pay for your purchase like you normally would
•    You upload your receipt to the app, Open Rewards (or link a credit card to remove this step)
•    You will receive 5% cash back rewards in your account once the receipt is approved
•    You go to another business in the program, make a purchase and redeem your rewards towards that purchase (or continue to save up your rewards)

The rewards program will run until January 31, 2025, to encourage shoppers to pick Seguin’s independently owned businesses as they shop throughout the holiday season.
