(Seguin) — The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) will be proudly celebrating its 5th annual Seguin Industry Signing Days, honoring high school seniors who have chosen to enter the workforce or pursue vocational training in high-demand career fields immediately after graduation.

Just as student-athletes participate in traditional “signing days” to announce the teams they will join, students across Texas participate in Industry Signing Day — also known as Career Signing Day — to sign “letters of intent” for job offers, apprenticeships, or advanced technical training opportunities.

During Seguin Industry Signing Day, local high school seniors will sign letters of intent reflecting their commitment to enter the workforce with Seguin-based companies, attend technical schools, or pursue higher education institutions related to their CTE program.

A total of 29 students from Navarro ISD and 15 students from Seguin ISD will be honored today and Wednesday for committing to careers or continued education in fields such as advanced manufacturing, electrical services, HVAC, health sciences, skilled trades, and other high-demand industries.

District officials say students from both high schools have secured positions with local companies such as Caterpillar, CMC Steel Texas, Joe Cools A/C & Heating, Masters Electrical Services, and Fantastic Sams. Others have committed to continuing their career-focused education at regional institutions including Baylor University, Galen School of Nursing, St. Philip’s College, Tarleton State University, Texas Lutheran University (TLU), Texas State University, Texas State Technical College (TSTC), Texas A&M, and more.

Josh Schneuker, the executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, says they are thrilled to recognize high school seniors from area schools for their commitment to further their education or join the workforce in high-demand careers.

“These students will make a lasting impact on the U.S. labor market and help close the skills gap facing our country. By spotlighting the many career options available, we hope even more students will sign letters of intent next year,” said Schneuker.

Melissa Gossett, director of career and technical education at Navarro ISD, says they too are excited to partner with the SEDC to recognize Navarro ISD CTE students who have completed their pathway at Navarro High School and are ready to take the next step in their careers.

“Industry Signing Day is one of my favorite events, as it allows us to celebrate our seniors who are choosing to pursue in-demand careers and those who are continuing their education at trade schools, colleges, or universities,” said Gossett.

Sergio Jaurrieta, Seguin ISD CTE director says the Seguin Industry Signing Day is made possible thanks to a team effort – a team that consists of area high schools, technical colleges, community colleges, and local employers.

“We are proud to honor the dedication of our young professionals as they continue to pursue their career goals beyond high school,” said Jaurrieta. “This event celebrates their bold steps toward a future built on skill, passion, and purpose. Industry Signing Day is more than a ceremony — it marks the beginning of their journey to shape the world with their talents. We congratulate our seniors and wish them the very best.”

The SEDC has partnered with area school districts to host two separate events. The first will be held today in the Navarro ISD. The second signing celebration will follow on Wednesday in the Seguin ISD.
