(Seguin) — Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the efforts by those smaller universities like TLU which now ranks as having one of the Top 10 Nursing Programs in the state.
Texas Lutheran University has officially earned a spot on Nurse.org’s prestigious list of the Top Ten Accelerated BSN Programs in Texas. Tracy Donley, TLU director of communications, says Nurse.org not only evaluates nursing programs based on graduation data, cost, and student feedback but also on their NCLEX-RN pass rates that exceed the national average.
Donley says the NCLEX is an exam required to become a licensed registered nurse – and a test that demonstrates the program’s effectiveness in preparing students for real-world success.
“Nurse.org is an educational site for nurses created by nurses. It is the leading educational website of that nature. And so, we’re really, really proud to have been included on their list of Top 10 ABSN programs in Texas,” said Donley.
Donley says the site’s 2025 list of top ABSN programs confirms that excellence isn’t reserved for large universities. She says TLU is now among the nursing powerhouses in the state of Texas.
“Well hopefully, this helps people know that Texas Lutheran University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has been ranked up there, with Texas A&M University, Fairfield University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, UT Health, San Antonio, University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Baylor University, University of Houston, University of Texas, Arlington, and Concordia University in Austin. So, we are number nine in that list of 10 top ABSN programs in Texas,” said Donley.
Donley says over the years, TLU’s nursing program has expanded to help meet the needs of students everywhere.
“TLU offers the accelerated BSN and direct entry MSN Master of Science in Nursing programs at both its New Braunfels and Houston campuses. And also, we offer the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program on our Seguin campus,” said Donley.
Also applauding the prestigious honor is Dr. Ruth Eby, TLU’s director of nursing.
“This recognition highlights the strength of our program and the success of our graduates. TLU nursing graduates are in high demand. Employers know they’re hiring professionals with exceptional clinical training, strong critical thinking skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. Our accredited programs don’t just teach nursing, they foster confident, capable leaders ready to make an impact,” said Eby.
The full rankings list can be seen at Nurse.org. Those interested in learning more about the nursing program are urged to visit tlu.edu.
