SEGUIN, Texas – The city is excited to announce a major highway expansion project from IH-10 from US 90 A to SH 130.  The proposed highway expansion will increase the number of lanes from four lanes to six lanes.

Originally, the project to expand the section of IH-10 from US 90 A (near exit 603) to SH 130 had a scheduled 2025 start date. However, the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (AAMPO) Transportation Policy Board (TPB), in which former Mayor Betty Ann Matthies is a member, recently approved moving the project up to a starting construction date of 2021. The total cost of the project is estimated to cost $243,000,000.00. Federal and State funds will be utilized for this project.

“This is a major project, with funding in excess of 200 million dollars. The impact of a six-lane expressway through our city means we will be able to clear congestion and accommodate the tremendous amount of growth projected for our area,” said Rick Cortes, Assistant City Manager. ###
