(Seguin) – The Seguin ISD has a new name to thank. The name “Harvey Najim” is synonymous with “generosity” especially when it comes to making a difference in the lives of children in the greater San Antonio area. The Najim Charitable Foundation’s 16-year history of supporting children is now being welcomed into local classrooms in the Seguin ISD.
Kelly Donegan Follis, executive director of the Seguin Education Foundation says The Najim Foundation came to mind when Steve Gonzalez, SISD director of digital learning, and Marcos Manrique, SISD digital learning specialist, approached her about some transformative technology.
“If our students are going to learn, we have to engage them by empowering our teachers to break through learning barriers with innovative tools. I believe these panels can accomplish this objective. Further, the project aligns well with the mission of the Seguin Education Foundation to generate and distribute resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and enhance the opportunities for students enrolled in the Seguin ISD. We were happy to receive this grant on behalf of the SISD,” said Follis.
Julie Seguin, senior grants manager at the foundation, was responsive in helping us navigate the grant proposal. After consideration by The Najim Foundation Board of Directors, Follis says the SISD was pleased to get the good news that the Seguin Education Foundation was awarded a $10,000 grant towards the purchase of several Clear Touch panels for SISD’s secondary campuses.
“We are grateful to The Najim Charitable Foundation for its assistance and look forward to implementing this innovation on campuses in the near future,” said Follis.
