(Seguin) — In late 2021, the City of Seguin embarked on a large planning process to update its Comprehensive Plan and develop a new Downtown Master Plan. These two documents will guide the future development of Seguin, assist City Council in budgeting priorities, prioritizing projects and more.

The City’s consultant, Freese and Nichols, Inc, has been performing research, gathering community input, and starting to develop the community snapshot. The next phase of the project is to start presenting their findings, project ideas, and future land use plans to the community.

On May 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Coliseum, the public is invited to an open house where they will be able to interact with City staff and the consultant as they learn about the ideas and plans being developed as part of the process.

“It is very important that we have a strong turn out for the open house,” said Kyle Kramm, Seguin Main Street and CVB Director, “These documents are going to guide city staff and Council for the next decade, and we want to ensure that the direction we head is the direction the community wants to go.”

The evening will start with a short presentation from staff and the consultant. After the presentation, the public will be invited to participate in a focus group or interact with the displays that highlight potential projects, future development patterns and more.

Most displays will be in English and Spanish, and Spanish interpreters will be available as well. Facebook lives are also being planned which will be streamed through the Facebook event for the open house which can be found on the City’s Facebook page and Seguin Main Street’s Facebook page.

The future of Seguin is in the hands of our citizens as we develop the City’s Comprehensive Plan and the Downtown Master Plan. This is their opportunity to ensure their voice is heard as Seguin becomes one of the fastest growing cities in Texas.

“This is the public’s opportunity to learn about the planning process, share their opinions on the ideas that are being put forth, and voice any big wishes and wants with the consultant,” said Kramm.
