SEGUIN, TX – The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) recently hosted Made in Seguin Day, an annual event held in recognition of Manufacturing Month that gives local high school students an opportunity to explore the manufacturing industry and learn about career opportunities available right here in their community.

Students from Seguin HS, Navarro HS, Marion HS, Southwest Preparatory, and Mercer-Blumberg Learning Center participated in the October 28 event, visiting local manufacturing facilities to see firsthand how products are made, learn about different operations, and connect with employers.

This year’s participating businesses included Alamo Group Texas, AmeriTex Pipe & Products, Berridge Manufacturing, Caterpillar, Cavco Industries, CMC Steel Texas, Niagara Bottling, Rave Gears, Schaeffler, Tomball Controls, and United Alloy, along with Texas State Technical College.

Through facility tours and conversations with industry professionals, students gained a better understanding of the skills, education, and career paths that support the manufacturing sector. The event also provided an opportunity for local employers to introduce students to their operations and highlight the variety of career opportunities available in the region.

“Made in Seguin Day is an opportunity to help students see the industries that are part of their own community and understand the career possibilities available to them after graduation,” said Alora Wachholz, Executive Director of the SEDC. “By connecting students directly with local employers, we hope to encourage them to consider building their futures right here in Seguin.”

SEDC appreciates the participating schools and businesses for their time and partnership in making this event possible. Connecting students with local employers is an important part of strengthening Seguin’s workforce pipeline and ensuring the next generation is aware of the opportunities available in their own backyard.
